5 Hair Care Do’s and Don’t

Healthy and lustrous hair is every woman’s dream, but it cannot be achieved by snapping your fingers. The right hair care in a daily routine is the first step to ensuring your hair remains shiny and soft. From using a certain shampoo to applying it in a correct motion, to picking the right brush and providing regular nourishment to the scalp, there are a number of treatments your hair requires in order to attain the all-time trending volume and style.

Here are five do’s and five don’ts that will make your hair soft and manageable.

Do’s:

Invest in Your Hair

Get a striking haircut. Loving and taking care of your hair is much more fun when you’re wearing a top-notch crown for hair. Know your type of shampoo and conditioner according to your hair type – dry or oily or moist. Also, make sure you buy a clarifying shampoo made especially for removal of chemicals that come with colouring your hair.

Nourish Your Hair Regularly

Massaging your scalp and hair nourishes the hair. Gently kneading your scalp with your fingers to moisten and to encourage blood circulation in the roots makes your hair healthy. It provides nutrition which is necessary for steady growth. Do not leave the oil on scalp and hair for long as it attracts dirt and gives dandruff.

Shampoo and Conditioner

Use a shampoo twice or thrice or weekly, but it isn’t necessary to use it on a daily basis. Pick a shampoo that contains ingredients that detoxify and strengthen your scalp, and removes oil and dust. When it comes to conditioning, use your fingers as a comb to spread the conditioner evenly, and make sure you use it after every wash.

Basics of Hair Protection

Protect your hair from direct sunlight. Cover it with a scarf or a cap. When drying your hair, use a towel to gently dab away the excess water. If you swim regularly, wear a shower cap. And wet your hair with regular water before, so it contradicts the effect of chlorinated water.

Eat Healthy

There are plenty of foods rich in vitamins, minerals, and fatty acids, which are essential for your hair growth. What you eat directly affects the skin of your scalp and the roots of your hair.

Don’ts:

Washing Your Hair

Never over-wash your hair. If you let water and shampoo stay in your hair for long, it makes your hair frail and causes hair fall. Not only that, your hair loses shine and lustre, and becomes dull.

Brushing Your Hair

Never brush your hair when it is wet. Also, don’t use a narrow-toothed brush to comb your hair. Don’t forget to keep your combs and brushes clean and never use someone else’s brush. Use of hair drier should be avoided or if you have to use it, keep it at a distance.

Shampoo and Conditioner

Don’t be coarse when applying your shampoo and make sure you spread it evenly instead of leaving it on one spot. Washing only one portion of your hair will cause discolouring. Don’t over-condition the scalp. Instead spread it mostly on the middle and ends. Leave it on for at least 3 to 5 minutes after a gentle massage.

Don’t Over Style

Do not use styling techniques such are curling iron or hair straightener too often as it causes hair to be rough and fragile. Excess heat from a blow dryer also damages the hair and causes split ends. Use a healthy serum instead to maintain the natural bounce and lustre of your hair.

Basic Don’ts

Don’t tie your hair up too tight as it causes the hair to break from the roots. It might also cause your growth to lessen in the long run. Make it a point to meet your stylist every month and get your hair trimmed or styled.

Conclusion

Maintaining healthy hair requires hard work and persistent care. Not only that, you have to be very particular about the day-to-day treatment as well as the products you use. But once you get in the game, hair care is actually fun.

However, in case there are problems that do not go away by regular care and have been persistent throughout your life, it is always a good option to consult a dermatologist. Dr. Vinay’s Vibrance Skin Laser and Cosmetic Clinic offers a wide range of services and treatments including the problems associated with hair. So, don’t live with problems, say them goodbye with better care and regular hygiene.
